Queenstown
Jack's Point
#5 in NZ
Set beneath the dramatic peaks of The Remarkables and along the shores of Lake Wakatipu, Jack's Point Golf Course is one of New Zealand's most spectacular golfing destinations. Opened in 2008, the par-72 championship layout was conceived by Sir Bob Charles and entrepreneur John Darby, who transformed an ancient glacial valley into a world-class course while preserving its remarkable natural environment.
The routing weaves seamlessly through native tussock grasslands, wetlands, rocky schist outcrops, and rugged alpine terrain, creating a golfing experience that is as visually breathtaking as it is strategically rewarding. The front nine climbs steadily through open landscapes before reaching elevated ridgelines that reveal sweeping views across the lake and mountains, while the back nine explores dramatic ravines and bluff-top fairways, offering constant changes in elevation and perspective.
Among the many memorable holes, the downhill par-four 6th stands out as a true highlight. Measuring less than 300 yards, it presents a classic risk-and-reward challenge where bold play can be richly rewarded but inaccuracy is severely punished. Throughout the course, firm-running fairways, imaginative bunkering, and superbly conditioned greens encourage thoughtful shot-making rather than brute power.
Widely regarded as the crown jewel of Queenstown golf, Jack's Point combines championship architecture with one of the most awe-inspiring settings in the Southern Hemisphere. Its blend of strategic design, pristine conditioning, and unforgettable scenery makes it an essential destination for golfers seeking a truly world-class experience.
