Millbrook — Coronet Course

Designer
Greg Turner & Scott Macpherson
Rankings
#11 in New Zealand (Australian Golf Digest)
Setting
Millbrook Resort, beneath The Remarkables & Coronet Peak

The Coronet Course at Millbrook Resort is a striking 18-hole championship layout that showcases the rugged beauty of New Zealand's Southern Alps. Designed by Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson (who has various architectural credits at the two Fairmont St Andrews courses Kittocks and Torrance, as well as Close House in England), the course seamlessly integrates with the dramatic natural landscape, winding through rocky schist outcrops, rolling terrain, native wetlands, and elevated ridgelines framed by panoramic views of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak.

Distinct from Millbrook's original layouts, the Coronet Course embraces the site's bold topography to create a more adventurous and strategic golfing experience. Significant elevation changes, blind tee shots, and naturally contoured fairways reward thoughtful shot-making, while the varied terrain provides a memorable journey through one of Queenstown's most spectacular settings.

The course features a series of standout risk-and-reward holes, including the exceptional par-five 11th, carved into a rocky hillside, and the drivable par-four 13th, where bold players can challenge for the green but risk finding the lake that guards the approach. Water hazards also play a prominent role throughout the closing stretch, demanding precision and composure as golfers navigate an engaging sequence of par fives, par fours, and par threes.

Although the steep terrain makes golf carts the preferred mode of transport, the Coronet Course rewards players with a dynamic blend of strategic architecture and unforgettable scenery. Combining championship-quality design with the raw beauty of the Queenstown landscape, it offers a world-class resort golf experience that is both visually spectacular and immensely enjoyable to play.
